#swimziphalloween is right around the corner and the search for costumes is ON! SwimZip has the perfect solution for you - make your little one's dreams come true and turn them into a MAGICAL SWIMZIP UNICORN!
This DIY tulle skirt is so simple to make and can be paired with the SwimZip Rash Guard + SwimZip Halter Top + a unicorn headband!
To make the tulle skirt...this is all you need!
-Tulle in whatever color you like (We used 4 different colors- dark, medium, and light pink, and white)
-1" wide Satin Ribbon
-Needle and thread
TIME TO GET SEWING!
First you'll need to decide how much tulle to get. You can measure your waist and add 20-30" to help you decide how much you'll need. The more inches you add the fuller your skirt will be when you're wearing it!
1. Lay all your tulle flat on top of each other. Unravel your ribbon and lay it in the center of the tulle length wise. Fold your tulle lengthwise.
2. Pin all the layers together at the edge of the ribbon to help keep everything in place when you're sewing.
3. Take your white thread and knot the ends together. When you start your running stitch you'll want to thread your needle through the ends of your thread. This will help keep your knot from just pulling through the fabric since tulle has a more open weave. Continue your running stitch all the way to the other end of the skirt.
4. Figured out where the center of your skirt is and stitch through the tulle and ribbon to tack them together. This will help prevent the ribbon from being pulled out.
Done! You can trim the edges and bottom if you want all the layers to be even. Gather the tulle together to tie the ribbon in a pretty bow around your waist and strut your stuff like this stylish UNICORN!!
